On the 10th of July members of the Herschel Lodge and Observatory Lodge along with some of their wives, partners and friends, completed a walk together. The Walk was organised by W.Bro Gary Mason, representative of Freemasonary in the Community for Slough. The team consisted of 25 walkers in total who all took the time out to participate in this fund raising event, the walk itself started at Eton College grounds and took them around Eton, along the Jubilee River and the River Thames, taking in the sights of Windsor Castle and the picturesque countryside not normally seen by the general public. The amount raised by the walkers and additional donations made by members of Herschel Lodge was tremendous, we believe the target of £3000 was reached but a final calculation has yet to be announced.
The Two Charities who will benefit from the walk are – Carers UK, Slough Branch and the Slough Alzheimer’s Society. Both organisations are worthy causes and the support we give them is just a small way of saying thank you, and an acknowledgement for the difficult task they have in caring for others.
